One of the most coveted distinctions in the “Best of the Year 2016” of the WINE Magazine – Essência do Vinho, went to the Peninsula region of Setúbal: ‘The Producer of the Year 2016’ is the Herdade do Portocarro. José Mota Capitão is the man who runs the project of producing high quality wines, in limited and exclusive quantities, and according to Wine ‘is one of the good examples that combines a mixture of creativity, study and respect for the past, which add up to a touch of audacity and audacity that should be guaranteed.
In the list of ‘Best Wines of the Year 2016’ – wines with a score equal to or greater than 18.5 – Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal Superior 20 years, 1995. Already in ‘TOP Wine 2016’, which includes wines punctuated up to 18 values, there are two more wines from the region of Setúbal Peninsula: ‘Alambre 20 anos’, from José Maria da Fonseca and the ‘Bacalhôa Palace, 2013’ from Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal.
Distinctions that according to Henrique Soares, President of the Viticulture Commission of the Setúbal Peninsula, ‘prove the region’s ability to produce exceptional wines in all ranges’. The winners were announced on Friday (27), at a gala awards ceremony, and resulted from a pre-selection of 60 nominees, the responsibility of writing the magazine WINE – The Essence of Wine.
